Welcome to the outside.

My name is Y.L. I’m single and childless, heading into middle age with a determination to give everything I have to my second act. As you can see, I don’t quite fit in this world - and I’m so glad. This time around, I’m making my own rules…

Women Exploring the Outside

Women spend their whole lives hearing what they can’t and shouldn’t do. And one day, we choose to step outside that box. We might embrace being single, decide not to have children, book that solo vacation, hike that mountain alone, learn how to renovate the homes we bought all by ourselves. We might even do the most audacious thing of all: to speak our truths out loud. We are becoming the women outside.

“A woman’s life truly does come in two acts — and the second can be (and often is) the most amazing. Whether we had children or not, entering the years of menopause is like another birthing process. When our bodies are no longer ruled by our reproductive cycles, when society no longer expects us to perform certain service roles to children and family, we are finally free.”
